To aid me with my music magazine research, I wanted to research the most popular singles and albums in the UK at the minute. This gives me a better understanding of the most popular artists at the moment.

In terms of most popular albums, according to officialcharts, we can see that Ed Sheeran has the highest selling album of 2014 so far.

From this I can see that the most popular artists are solo artists.
